Berserk Season 3 – Know all the Updates

Berserk is a dark fantasy manga created by Kentaro Miura. When the manga was released, it gathered massive fandom. Soon, it was adapted into an animated series of 25 episodes that was released between October 1997 and March 1998. Afterward, a trilogy of animated films was produced between 2012 and 2013.

The buzz of Berserk didn’t stop there. A new animated adaptation was released between July 2016 and June 2017, completing two seasons. Unfortunately, Kentaro Miura took his last breath on the 6th of May, 2021, putting a big question mark on the future of the anime.

So, will Berserk be revived for season 3 or not? Read this article till the end to find out.

What is the Plot of Berserk?

Berserk is a dark fantasy anime with various twists, turns, ups, and downs. Crunchyroll describes this anime as under:

Spurred by the flame raging in his heart, the Black Swordsman Guts continues his seemingly endless quest for revenge. Standing in his path are heinous outlaws, delusional evil spirits, and a devout child of God. Even as it chips away at his life, Guts continues to fight his enemies, who wield repulsive and inhumane power, with nary but his body and sword – his strength as a human. What lies at the end of his travels? The answer is shrouded in the night.

Will Berserk be Revived for Season 3?

The first two seasons received positive response from the audiences. Despite such a response, there hasn’t been a single update on the revival of the anime for the third season. At present, we cannot predict the release date of the anime.

However, considering the ongoing popularity, the odds of making the sequel are high. The only question that lingers is – Which story arc will be adapted in the subsequent season?

Earlier, some reports and fan theories predicted Berserk Season 3 would hit the screens in December 2023. However, none of these reports was true. The anime fans are hoping for an announcement from the makers, given that it has already been five years of waiting. Do you want to know the Villainess Level 99 Release Date and Details?

What will be the Plot of Berserk Season 3?

The second season of Berserk ended with Episode 24, City of Humans in 2017. It finished with a 2D scene that set up the next part of the story. While it may have just been a mere call to read the manga, there was a clear message left for the audience – THE STORY CONTINUES…

The anime-only viewers who jumped onto the series with its 2016 edition were confused. The first episode dropped them into the middle of the action without giving any recap of the previous anime adaptation of the manga series. To add insult to injury, GEMBA decided to skip the next short story arc, The Lost Children, and jump straight into the Conviction story arc. I started with Chapter 95 and ended with 82 chapters with Chapter 176 covering Volumes 14 through 21. The next season covered over half of the Falcon of the Millenium Empire story arc containing Volumes 22 through 35 or Chapters 177 through 307.

Fans will be glad to learn that the manga series has numerous chapters available that could become the plot for the third season. Around 57 chapters in the Falcon of the Milenium Empire story arc are left, and if everything goes well, the makers may look forward to continuing the story by adapting this arc.

The adaptation pacing of the Berserk Season 3 anime could finish off only the Falcon of the Milenium Empire arc rather than an attempt to find a halting point in the middle of another arc, Berserk Fantasia.

Which Studio Will Be Making Berserk Season 3?

Currently, there are no updates on which studio will be creating the third season. Some reports suggest that Studio 4°C will take charge of production this season, while others state that the production will be taken care of by GEMBA. It would be fair to wait for the confirmation from the makers.

Where can I Watch Berserk Seasons 1 and 2?

While the announcement of the third season is yet to be made by the makers, you can enjoy the previous two seasons of the series. They are available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix in some regions.
