Assassination Classroom is a sci-fi comedy anime adapted from the manga which has been written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui. First released in 2015, the anime became immensely popular for its plot, especially for the perfect blend of comedic instances blended seamlessly with genuine wholesome moments. Assassination Classroom Season 3 Release Date
Fans worldwide will be disappointed to learn that the chances of Assassination Classroom’s 3rd season are bleak. The first two seasons essentially covered the main story of the manga, and class 3E completed their mission of killing Koro-sensei and were left distraught learning what he was.
Since the release of the second season, no new update about refreshing the show for the 3rd season is out but it seems to be in mid-2024. Moreover, because the second season ended, there is a low probability of releasing the third season of the anime.

Assassination Classroom Plot
Assassination Classroom is a manga written by Yusei Matsui. It was published by Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga begins with an outer space organism destroying half of the moon and threatening to do the same to Earth in a year. This alien takes charge as a high school teacher in a coy game. The Japanese government puts a bounty of 100 million dollars on it. Koro-sensei enables the students to earn this prize.
But Koro is not a normal organism. He is blessed with supernatural abilities that make it difficult for anybody to kill him. Moreover, his stint as a teacher makes him very well-respected and loved by his students because his dedication as a teacher is impressive, and he brings a lasting impact on the lives of the students.
The official synopsis of Assassination Classroom by Crunchyroll reads:
“Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacled sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon. In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver be prone to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction and collect a hefty reward.”
Will this Series have a Future?
The manga was serialized from the 2nd of July, 2012 to the 16th of March, 2016. It comprises 180 chapters with an additional five extras collected into 21 tankobon volumes.
While enjoying the anime on the TV screens, many manga fans pointed out that Studio Lerche had decided to eliminate the excess parts of the storyline, which they considered fillers, and covered only the primary events. The primary events centered on the actual plot of the students of Class 3E and their quest to kill their teacher.
The finale concludes with a time skip and depicts Nagisa as a teacher at the same school guiding a group of delinquent students like Koro-sensei. Following this, many fans were hopeful that the makers would release the third season soon.
That said, Yusei Matsui concluded the manga with a fitting end and signaled that his stint with writing the manga was coming to an end. As per reports, Matsui is currently engaged in his new manga series.
Why is Assassination Classroom Season 3 Less Likely To Happen?
The anime comprises 50 episodes in the span of two seasons. Here are the reasons why the anime might not have its third installment:
- The anime covered most of the storyline from the sourced manga. It had been consistent with the structure and did the same with the ending of the anime adaptation of the series.
- The first season adapted most of the first half of the manga. It was believed that the second season would cover the second half, and the series would conclude.
Even if the fans are expecting the third season, it would be based on an entirely new and unique storyline away from the manga.
There is a Spin-Off
While there are no updates about the release of the third season, there is surely a spin-off to check out. Koro Sensei Quest! Is a spin-off of the manga series by Yusei Matsui. Illustrated by Jo Aoto, this series is set in an alternate universe of the RPG world, where the elite students of Kunugigaoka Junior High School are superheroes. Even in this universe, the students of Class 3E are weaker heroes, tasked with the mission of killing their teacher, an octopus-like powerful creature.
Since this anime is an alternate spin-off, the events are non-approved to the original storyline. The spin-off received an anime film adaptation on the 19th of November, 2016, by the same production house. Afterward, the spin-off movie was recut into 12 short 10-minute episodes.
Where Can I Watch Assassination Classroom?
Going by the many new reports and polls, Assassination Classroom will not be renewed for its third season. In the meantime, you can stream its two seasons on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Alternatively, you can download the show on Apple TV.
